As this scorching summer continues, here’s another tasty smoothie recipe to help you beat the heat! I especially love this one because it includes the cool, refreshing goodness of cucumber!
To say that the hubby and I are both huge fans of cucumber would be an incredible understatement. In fact, it is not at all uncommon for us to each grab one whole for a snack! It’s a good thing, too…because not only is cucumber beautifully refreshing, but it’s also super healthy.
For reasons unknown to me, in comparison to its fellow veggies, the cucumber is often overlooked and doesn’t exactly receive a lot of press for its outstanding nutritional value. Don’t let the lack of attention fool you, though! Cucumbers contain a unique combination of essential phytonutrients for your body — most prominently cucurbitacins, lignans, and flavonoids. These three types of phytonutrients provide us with valuable antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer benefits!
Add to that the amazing superpowers of blackberries, the easily digestible proteins and healthy fats in hemp seeds, potassium and oh so much more from the banana, the the beneficial bacteria and essential enzymes of raw milk, and the nutritional powerhouse that is spinach…and you got yourself a SUPER smoothie!
