I know I already covered my mint chocolate addiction this weekend. But I couldn’t stop there.
I needed froyo. Lots of froyo.
I decided to explore another one of my ultimate addictions: peanut butter.
Seriously, I think just about anything tastes better with nut butters.
So, when I woke up this morning, I put a sliced banana in the freezer and got to work on my usual Sunday to-do list. After a few hours of chores, it was time for a reward…
Chocolate Banana Peanut Buttery Froyo of Joy and Joyness! |
Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt
(Serves 2)
Ingredients:
- 1 frozen sliced banana
- 1 to 2 T unsweetened raw cocoa powder
- 2 T all natural peanut butter
- 11 ounces plain Greek yogurt
- Dark chocolate squares (optional)
- Shredded coconut (optional)
Combine all the ingredients, except the dark chocolate and coconut, in a food processor and process until smooth.
Place the mixture in your ice cream maker (here’s mine) and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow to churn until desired consistency is met.
Divide the frozen yogurt into two dishes and garnish with dark chocolate squares, if desired. Sprinkle with shredded coconut.
Nom it up!
I have the same ice cream maker! Can’t wait to start trying these. We have been trying to kick the ice cream habit (by that I mean eating an entire pint of Ben N Jerrys in a 24 hr period). This is just what I need 🙂
Could this work with Plain whole milk yogurt ? Or with Greek Vanilla? At least until I am at the store again…
How cool that we have the same one! We seem to have a lot in common! 🙂 Since you mentioned B&J’s, you might want to check out my recipe for Cherry Chocolate Frozen Yogurt; it’s like Cherry Garcia, only healthy! 🙂
As for the yogurt, I think either of your substitutions would work fine. Using the plain yogurt might make your frozen yogurt not quite as thick, but it shouldn’t be TOO much of a difference. The vanilla Greek yogurt should keep the consistency the same and just add a hint of vanilla to the recipe. I’m sure either would still be super yummy!
