Summer may be winding down, but the heat certainly is not!
So, you know what that means: SMOOTHIES!!!
I was beyond excited when the hubby found an amazing deal on raw, organic almond butter!! Around these parts, raw almond butter can cost $15+ for a 16 oz. jar! Obviously, that means it often is reserved for special treats.
My incredible husband found 16 oz. jars for…
wait for it…
…only $2.99!!
I knoooowwww!!!! 🙂
I still can’t wait to get a Vitamix, so that I can make my own nut butters…but, for now, you better believe that we stocked up on a mountain of jars to tide us over!
Needless to say, I wanted to enjoy the creamy, almond goodness immediately…and I’ve always loved the nommy combination of blueberries and almonds…
And thus, this delicious and nutritious smoothie was born!
Bluberry Almond Green Smoothie
(Serves 1 to 2)
Ingredients:
- 1/2 to 1 cup milk (Stay on the lesser end if you prefer a super thick, soft-serve smoothie; that’s what I do!)
- 1 scoop Raw Protein (optional)
- 1/2 banana, frozen
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 cup frozen greens of your choice (spinach, turnip greens, kale, etc.)
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1 T raw almond butter
- 1 to 2 handfuls of ice
Place all of the ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. Garnish with extra blueberries and raw almonds, if desired.
You’ll find it has the consistency of a milkshake (YUM!), so you can drink it, or enjoy it with a spoon! 🙂
Hey! It’s Jessica (Fergen)…do you have a decent food processor? I make my own peanut and almond butter with my food processor (it’s a Ninja), don’t have to add any oil or anything to it. It’s been delicious! Might be a good option til you get your Vitamix. I posted it on my blog, or the original one is on my Pinterest board as well. Hope you’re well!
Thanks for the tip, Jessica! As of right now, I don’t have a decent one. My last one was a cheapy, and it bit the dust. That’s what has motivated me to get the Vitamix; I’m determined to make a good investment this time around! I’ll have to look into the Ninja, too. I hope everything is going wonderfully for you!!
Just looking at that first photo made me drool a little bit 😉
Yay!! Mission accomplished. 😉
I literally make this exact same smoothie every day!!! I use almond milk since im vegan and just blueberries (no banana) but seriously i have this at least five days a week! Best combo ever- and i’m crazy jealous of the almond butter deal you found!

I made this recipe this morning, its delicious, but i substituted greek yogurt for the milk cause i didnt have any milk.
YUM! I’m sure Greek yogurt tasted wonderful! We go through a ton of Greek yogurt around here…so much in fact, that we even make our own! Here’s the link for the how-to, in case you hadn’t seen it yet. 🙂
