After falling in love with our Cherry Chocolate Frozen Yogurt, and having a wonderful Nom Eat Nom reader say that she used cherries in our Berries and Cream Overnight Oats, I was struck with a super nommy idea:
Cherry Chocolate Overnight Oats!
It’s Cherry Garcia meets breakfast!
We’ve already talked about the incredible health benefits of cherries and cacao, and it’s no secret that oats are packed with heart-healthy fiber and nutrients. In fact, they even help stabilize your blood sugar. In short, this nommy breakfast will keep you energized and satisfied throughout your busy morning!
Have you tried overnight oats yet??
I’m finding the more flavors I try, the more I fall in love! It really is like having dessert for breakfast.
Healthy, filling, delicious dessert!
Waking up to the sound of the alarm blaring in the morning can be difficult. Why not go ahead and give yourself something to look forward to?! 🙂
Cherry Chocolate Overnight Oats
(Serves 1)
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup whole milk (I use raw milk, fresh from the farm!)
- 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt (make your own!)
- 1/4 tsp. pure almond extract
- 1/4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. date sugar
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen (thawed) cherries, coarsely chopped
- 1 to 2 T raw cacao nibs (or dark chocolate chips, if you prefer)
Not only can you make a batch of your favorite oats the night before, but the jars will also keep for several days in the fridge, which can make your busy workday mornings a whole lot easier! I like to mix up a variety of flavors on Sunday evening — that way they are ready and waiting for me to enjoy in the morning all week long! 🙂
