Confession: I went years not really “getting” the whole green smoothie craze.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved my greens, but I preferred them sautéed or tossed in a salad.
The thing is, I had never even tried a green smoothie. I just assumed it wasn’t for me. After all, why bother to blend the greens if I absolutely adore eating them whole??
I’m not too proud to say that I was wrong.
So very, very wrong.
Now, I still love my salads and sautéed greens, but a big ol’ green smoothie after a workout or on a hot, summer day just can’t be beat!
I am now officially addicted.
Fast forward to last night, when I spotted this awesome infographic sharing some of the fantastic health benefits that come with enjoying a diet rich in leafy greens:
Awesome, right?? |
I shared the graphic on my Facebook page, and made the promise that I would blog about some of my favorite green smoothie concoctions ASAP…so here we are! 🙂
Now, if you’ve never tried a green smoothie: don’t be scared. Just like in our mint chocolate chip frozen yogurt, you can’t even taste the greens.
What you can taste, however, is creamy, fruity, vanilla goodness!
Raspberry Hemp Green Smoothie
(Serves 1 to 2)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup raw milk (or milk of choice)
- 1 scoop Raw Protein (optional)
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 cup frozen greens (I’ve used both spinach and turnip greens)
- 1/2 frozen banana
- Splash or two of pure vanilla extract
- 1 to 2 T raw hemp seeds
- Handful of ice
Combine all of the ingredients in your blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Enjoy the nommy refreshment AND nourishment! Your body will love you for it. 🙂
Oh, who are we kidding?!? Make two batches!! 😉
That smoothie looks soooo delicious…why must you tease me ._.?
It IS delicious!! And super easy to make, too! All you need is a blender — go for it! 🙂
I’m so glad I found you on Fb! I’ve just recently started juicing and making green smoothies for my family and I, this past month. This smoothie looks so yummy. I’m gonna make it tomorrow. Thank you! 🙂
I’m so glad you found me, too!! I can’t wait to hear what you think of the smoothie!! 🙂
I hope you find lots of other recipes on the site to share with your family. I’ll be sharing more smoothie recipes in the near future, too! 🙂
im happy to admit that all my sugar comes from fruit and after trying to be gletun/soy/dairy free for a month now, my cravings and food incentives after running long runs have steered me in the direction of things that are much healthier… ive found when i have a particular craving i 1)should just let myself have it, a girls got to live a little haha, or 2) figure out what nutrient my body is craving or needing and find a healthier way to get it….beet/carrot/kale chips dunked in salt and apple cider vinegar and popped into the oven are my new addiction 😀 better than potato chips!
I love adding bleurebries to my smoothies, you can get very creative though. I like the organic energy bar picture, it looks very good and tempting.
